General Motors has dismissed 15 employees, including at least eight executives, after an internal investigation found “a pattern of incompetence and neglect” that led to 11 years of delays in recalling millions of cars for a fatal defect, CEO Mary Barra said today. Barra promised that the company would address future safety issues far differently, warning employees that failing to report risks would make them “part of the problem” and even inviting them to contact her directly if they couldn't get potential defects addressed themselves.
‘Stunning’ Sports car concept teased by Kia
It may be almost Christmas, but car makers are looking a bit further ahead than that with the current crop of teases and expectations for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in January. Today’s offering comes from Kia, with the first teaser photo of a new concept heading for Detroit. Kia describe their car as a “stunning sports car concept” which has been designed by Kia’s California design team in Irvine, and is a 2+2 Sports Car which, say Kia, will make heads turn and provide superb driving enjoyment on road or on track.
This is the new US market, 8th generation Honda Civic that follows on soon from the announcement of the 8th generation European Civic about to make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and the Civic Si Coupe concept shown at Chicago earlier this year. Although relating closely to its hatchback European sibling, the US market Civic is available as a four door sedan or two door coupe - underscoring the principal difference in market preference between Europe and America for this size of car.
